The World Has Always Known

How to Heal

Before there were hospitals, there were healers.
Before pharmaceuticals, there were plants, rituals, and ancestral wisdom. In many countries, these traditions haven’t disappeared — they’ve evolved.

This page exists to introduce you to how people care for their bodies, minds, and spirits around the world — in ways the Western system often overlooks, misunderstands, or suppresses.

Cultural Healing Snapshots

 Japan – Shinrin-Yoku

Spending time among trees to reduce stress, blood pressure, and anxiety. Doctors prescribe it as a recognized treatment.

→ Rooted in nature. Backed by science.

 India – Ayurveda

One of the oldest healing systems in the world. Uses herbs, food, movement, and energy alignment to treat imbalances before they become illness.

→ 5,000 years of wisdom that still works today.

Senegal – Traditional Bone Setting

Community elders and healers mend bones using herbs, massage, and spiritual practices. Still widely used and respected alongside modern care.

→ When heritage is more trusted than hospitals.

Chile – Healing with Food

Hot peppers, turmeric, garlic, and herbal teas are used to treat inflammation, pain, and digestion. Food isn’t just comfort — it’s prevention.

→ Your kitchen is your first clinic.

Ghana – Healing in Community

Family and elders play a central role in recovery. Healing isn’t a solo mission — it’s a shared responsibility. → No one gets left behind.

Mexico - Banana Leaves

Mexican traditional medicine is known to use banana leaves to dress injuries. An acquaintance of mine told me that she had once suffered a bad gash on her shin that was treated using a special paste (made in her village) and wrapped in banana leaves. There was no scar on her leg! Me? I had a shin injury and I’ll have the scar for life!

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

TCM is a very well known, and respected, form of holistic medicine and it is practiced in many countries. It has existed for over 2,000 years and includes many popular practices including: Accupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Tai Chi.

I experienced several of the techniques of TCM, in Europe, where my doctors relied on these remedies before looking into any other forms of treatment. It was an eye-opening experience because I had never heard of treating my illnesses this way! It was awesome!

I find people and cultures fascinating. I’m always trying to figure out ways to do things and I often find myself researching how other cultures do them.

My wellness journey began when I traveled to Europe. I learned about approaches that were new to me. I’ve seen firsthand how one country’s approach to wellness had adverse effects on loved ones.

What the Western System Forgot, Ignored, Manipulated, Fed to the Dog..

  • Healing is more than prescriptions

  • Prevention is cultural, not just clinical

  • Energy, food, rest, and belief matter

  • Not everything needs to be “proven” to be powerful

  • Your body has to be able to identify what it’s getting in order for it to work effectively

“In most of the world, medicine comes with a story — not a side effect.”
